NCAA: An Overview of the NCAA Tournament Bracket
Posted on | March 16, 2009 | No Comments
The NCAA Tournament brackets are out… let the madness truly begin. There really weren’t any major surprises at the top of the brackets and there weren’t any major controversies either. The only possible team that shouldn’t have gotten in was probably the Arizona Wildcats. In place of them Creighton or San Diego State probably should’ve gone. But the Wildcats are in so let’s move on.
For the first time ever a conference has 3 #1 seeds. The #1 seeds are Louisville (the top overall seed in the tournament), Connecticut, Pittsburgh, and North Carolina. Louisville is the Midwest Region and they probably have the easiest road to the Final Four. Their top threats are Kansas, Michigan State, and Wake Forest. While there won’t be any picks made in this blog entry, I don’t see Louisville have too much trouble here.
Here in the West UConn is the #1 seed. Memphis is the #2 seed in that bracket. But don’t overlook Missouri either. Those are just the top 3 seeds in the West Region.
Over on the other side of the bracket North Carolina is the #1 seed in the South Region. They are followed by Oklahoma, Syracuse, and Gonzaga. All of these teams have a legitimate shot at making the Final Four.
Finally, in the East Region Pittsburgh is the #1 seed. Two other great teams in this region are Duke and Villanova. Of course, I don’t know that Duke will be able to go very far in the tournament. But we’ll get more into that in the next couple of days.
And in the next couple of days we will take an in depth look at each region. There will be one blog entry for each region. We’ll go right through and pick all the winners. Of course, the picks will get blown up as the tournament moves on.
So, in the next few days we’ll get into all the match-ups that will start on Thursday at noon.
