Manchester United vs Portsmouth

The coming week will mark the completion of 20 years at the helm for Sir Alex Ferguson as the Manchester United manager. A win against Portsmouth is the best gift his players could give him on this special occasion. A loss against FC Copenhagen surely would have not done any big harm on the players morale. The manager and the players are still very much upbeat even after a disappointing loss in mid week. Portsmouth have started the season extremely well and Harry Redknapp will be hoping his team can put up a good performance in this tough fixture.
Injury has struck united once again, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was looking in prime form and better than he’s ever looked for united but that has come to an end for the moment with him ruled out for over a month. Inspirational captain, Neville will also miss out and is not expected to return next week too. Ryan Giggs will undergo a fitness test before he is cleared to play Pompey on Saturday. He might not start the match but could make an appearance from the bench. This will give a chance for both Christiano Ronaldo and Darren flecther to play on the wings. Carrick and Scholes are most likely going to fill the mid-field berth. It is to be seen if Sir Alex Ferguson will risk playing Louis Saha since the Frenchman was ruled out of the Champions League fixture and is not looking 100% fit at the moment. For Pompey, Glen Johnson and Primus are both out with injuries, along with Gary O’Neil and Fernandes who are due to face fitness tests tomorrow. Dejan Stefanovic is although fit and will play against the Red Devils on Saturday.
The United defense has looked extremely solid in the Premiership with Rio Ferdinand and Vidic providing a great partnership at the back. I am almost certain United will keep a clean sheet and that is at the odds of 1.66. A slightly riskier bet is United to win to Nil at 1.90 but that is also a pretty probable result. Christiano Ronaldo to score for me at 2.62 could be your side bet for this match, but it’s looking like a draw or a United victory by the smallest of margins. Go for a 1-0 United victory at 7.0!
