NFL: Picking the Super Bowl Winner

Posted on | January 30, 2009 | No Comments

Now, it’s finally time to pick the Super Bowl winner. Since all the teams started working hard in training camp way back in the summer, now it comes down to just one team that makes all that hard work pay off.

Will it be the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Arizona Cardinals?

The smart money has to be on the Steelers. But there is a decent uprising going on right now and a lot of people are going with the Cardinals.

This games all comes down to how well the Cardinals offense and the Steelers defense plays against each other. To get even more specific, it will come down to whether the Steelers can create turnovers. Because if they don’t then they’ll be in trouble.

I’ve said it for the past 2 months and I’ll say it again, the Steelers only win when they create turnovers. The only way the Steelers break open games is by getting big turnovers and turning them into points.

Yeah I know the Steelers have the best defense in the NFL. But I also know that the defense – and the entire team – is helped out by bad weather. Don’t believe me? Well, look at this:

Pretty much every game the Steelers have played since November has been a bad weather game. There has been wind, cold temperatures, and maybe rain or snow. The Steelers have won all those games. The one game the Steelers didn’t play in bad weather was at Tennessee. You know what happened in that game? The Steelers got blown out.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals have excelled in all their “good” weather games this year. Right now the weather for the big game is supposed to be high 60s with just a light wind.

If this game was played in bad weather then I would favor the Steelers by three touchdowns. But since this game is being played in fair weather, I will go with the Cardinals. It only makes sense.

And the score? Well, let’s go with 27-19.
