Recap: Philadelphia Eagles at Arizona Cardinals

No more doubting Kurt Warner.
No more doubting the Cardinals defense.
No more doubting the Arizona Cardinals.
The Arizona Cardinals are in the Super Bowl.
Let me write that again because it’s something that I’ve never written and its something that I never thought I would write in my lifetime:
The Arizona Cardinals are in the Super Bowl.
So, how did they do it?
Well, they came out on fire against the Eagles and nearly blew the Eagles off the field in the first half. Then they held on for dear life and scored late in order to win the NFC Championship.
The game was actually a microcosm of the season. The Cardinals started out strong, then faded, and then when it looked like they would lose it all, they suddenly rose up again and did what they needed to do.
That is the story of the Cardinals season and the Cardinals Championship Game.
It was unbelievable how easily the Cardinals moved the ball on the Eagles in the first half. Similarly as amazing was Larry Fitzgerald’s performance – he caught three touchdowns and had well over 100 yards in the first half. Fitzgerald has now established himself as the best wide receiver in the NFL.
And how about Kurt Warner? He will be in his 3rd Super Bowl and he has now established himself as one of the best quarterbacks of all time. I don’t say that without knowing what it means. Yes, it means he should be in the Hall of Fame.
What else do you want the guy to do? He has the numbers. He has a Super Bowl title. And now he’s taken the Arizona Cardinals – the Arizona Cardinals – to the Super Bowl. If that doesn’t push him over the edge then nothing will.
As for the Eagles, they are once again going home after the NFC Championship Game. That makes them 1-4 in such games. Not good.
It was a great run for the Eagles but I’m sure they and their fans will take little consolation.
I bet the radio lines are already popping in Philly asking – no, demanding – the heads of McNabb and Reid.
The Philly fans have to be in shock. Who isn’t? The Arizona Cardinals are in the Super Bowl!
