Game : Hull City ( 8th- 27 points) vs Arsenal ( 5th- 38 points)
Competition : English Premier League
Venue : KC Stadium ( Hull City at home)
Date : Saturday, January 17, 2009
Time : 15.00 GMT
Arsenal travel to the KC stadium on Saturday afternoon looking for revenge for the defeat Hull inflicted upon them at the Emirates in September. A loss to Hull will see Arsenal slip further away from Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool; so it is essential that Wenger’s boys pick up full points at the KC stadium.
Arsenal beat Bolton Wanderers 1-0 last week, with Nicklas Bendtner scoring a late goal. The Gunners have not been beaten in the league since November, when they lost 3-0 to Man City. Arsenal are on a six game unbeaten streak in all competitions. Tomas Rosicky, Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott all remain sidelined, but Alexandre Song might play if he passes a fitness test. Since October, Arsenal have won only once away from the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal form- last five games- all competitions
Arsenal 1-0 Bolton ( Nicklas Bendtner)
Arsenal 3-1 Plymouth FA Cup ( Robin Van Persie*2, OG)
Arsenal 1-0 Portsmouth ( William Gallas)
Aston Villa 2-2 Arsenal ( Denilson, Abou Diaby)
Arsenal 1-1 Liverpool ( Robin Van Persie)
Hull City have struggled in recent times, and have won only once in their last twelve league games. Phil Brown’s Tigers are now eighth in the table, five behind the third place they occupied in October. For Hull Kamil Zayatte is suspended. Midfielder George Boateng is also sidelined with knee ligament damage. That leaves Hull a bit thin in midfield, given that Bryan Hughes is also out. Kevin Kilbane could make his debut for Hull. Manucho could also figure if he is granted a work permit.
Hull City form- last five games- all competitions
Newcastle United 0-1 Hull City ( Daniel Cousin)- FA Cup
Everton 2-0 Hull City
Hull 0-0 Newcastle- FA Cup
Hull 0-1 Aston Villa
Man City 5-1 Hull City ( Craig Fagan)
This is Arsenal’s first trip to the KC Stadium, and I think they’ll win this one. Arsenal 1-0 Hull City, with Robin Van Persie scoring.
