Game : Bolton Wanderers ( 12th-23 points) vs Manchester United ( 2nd-44 points)

Venue : Reebok Stadium

Date : January 17, 2008 (Saturday)

Competition : English Premier League

Kickoff : 15.00 GMT

Manchester United can assume temporary leadership of the English Premier League if they beat Gary Megson’s Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok on Saturday afternoon. With leaders Liverpool not playing till Sunday, a win at the Reebok will see United go one point clear of their rivals from Merseyside at the end of Saturday.

United beat Wigan 1-0 on Wednesday, with Wayne Rooney scoring the only goal of the game. But the victory came at a heavy price, with Rooney ruled out for the next three weeks with a hamstring injury. Jonny Evans and Carlos Tevez also suffered knocks in the game, and Ferguson has worries over the composition of his attack and defence going into this game. Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra are injured, which leaves the back four to be more vulnerable in the event that Evans does not recover.

Manchester United form- last five games- all competitions

Manchester United 1-0 Wigan Athletic ( Wayne Rooney)
Man United 3-0 Chelsea ( Nemanja Vidic, Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov)
Derby 1-0 Man United ( League Cup)
Southampton 0-3 Man United ( FA Cup- Danny Welbeck, Nani, Gibson)
Man United 1-0 Middlesbrough ( Dimitar Berbatov)

Bolton Wanderers have lost their last three league games and will look to prevent a fourth consecutive loss. The Trotters lost to Arsenal last week, but held their own for most of the game before a late goal from Nicklas Bendtner allowed Arsenal to come out with three points. French defender Sebastien Puygrenier is expected to make his debut for Bolton in this game. Influential player Kevin Nolan is suspended, and Nicky Hunt, Gavin McCann, Johan Elmander and Ricardo Vaz Te are injured.

Bolton won this fixture 1-0 last time around, with Nicolas Anelka scoring. The Frenchman has left for Stamford Bridge though, and while United will be favourites, you can expect Bolton to give them a tough time. United to win 2-0 though, with Berbatov and Ronaldo scoring.
