NFL: Super Seven – Championship Game Edition

Posted on | January 15, 2009 | 1 Comment

Well, gone are the days of trying to figure out who the best teams are or were. Man, was I wrong about the two top teams – Tennessee and the New York Giants.

Now, it’s easier than ever, and I can’t be proven wrong with numbers 5-7.

So let’s get started with this week’s list:

1. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are clearly the best team in the NFL right now and they have to be the favorite to win it all. But stay tuned because last year everyone was ready to hand the Lombardi to the New England Patriots and we all know what happened there.

But the Steelers have experience, a steady quarterback, a great defense, and a good running game. That all adds up to a very complete team.

2. Philadelphia Eagles

How bad would it be to see an all Pennsylvania Super Bowl? Almost as bad as an all New York Super Bowl.

But it just might happen. It probably will happen.

3. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens have a nasty defense. But they also have a rookie quarterback. If it comes down to Flacco versus the Steelers defense, forget it. Game over.

But the Ravens do have a good running game and that makes them almost as good as the Steelers.

4. Arizona Cardinals

Well, the Cardinals finally earned their way to this spot. How can I doubt them any longer?

But I get a funny feeling that they just might lay a big egg on Sunday. But, the last couple of weeks my feelings about the Cards have been dead wrong. We will see…

5. Tennessee Titans

The Titans got slightly robbed by the officials and the Ravens. That’s kinda like saying someone is slightly dead. Does the slightly matter? Nope.

And it doesn’t matter for the Titans either.

6. New York Giants

I already wrote enough about Eli.

And please, to the media who’s still in love with all things Eli: Plax didn’t make that big of a deal… or at least he wouldn’t have if Eli could throw the ball better.

7. San Diego Chargers

Just not enough to match the Steelers. But they fought valiantly.

I agree about Flacco being a rookie going against the Steelers defence, but I thought the same thing last week against the Titans and it worked out. It seems impossible, but what if he pulls it off again? Like you said, New England blew it last year…
