Game : Portsmouth FC (12th-23 points) vs Manchester City ( 13th -22 points)

Venue : Fratton Park, Portsmouth

Date : January 10, 2008 ( Saturday)

Competition : English Premier League

Kickoff : 15.00 GMT

Manchester City will look to bounce back from their shock 3-0 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest last week when they take on Tony Adams’ Portsmouth at Fratton Park on Saturday afternoon.

The pressure is mounting on Mark Huhes, but he isn’t ready to throw in the towel yet. And Hughes’ job could come under greater scrutiny should City lose to Portsmouth, who have had a bad run of their own in the last month or so. Stephen Ireland is banned, and Shaun Wright Philips’ hamstring is expected to keep him out. Robinho is expected to take a late fitness test, and should he not be fit, we could see Wayne Bridge making his City debut at left midfield instead of left back. Martin Petrov and Valeri Bojinov continue to be absentees while Ched Evans and Benjani are also expected to miss out.

Manchester City form- last five games- all competitions ( Man City scorers in brackets)

Man City 0-3 Nottingham Forest
Blackburn Rovers 2-2 Man City ( Daniel Sturridge, Robinho)
Man City 5-1 Hull City ( Felipe Caicedo*2, Robinho*2, Stephen Ireland)
West Brom 2-1 Man City ( own goal from Carson)
Racing Santander 3-1 Man City ( Felipe Caicedo)

Portsmouth have lost their last four Premier League games, and drew 0-0 with Bristol City in the FA Cup last week. Fullback Glen Johnson returns to the first side, but Papa Bouba Diop, Jerome Thomas and Richard Hughes are out injured. John Utaka and Younes Kaboul will be fit to play City though. Jermain Defoe has also left for Tottenham, which means Peter Crouch will probably play in a solitary strikers’ role upfront

Portsmouth form- last five games- all competitions- Portsmouth scorers indicated in brackets.

Portsmouth 0-0 Bristol City
Arsenal 1-0 Portsmouth
Portsmouth 1-4 West Ham ( Nadir Belhadj)
Bolton 2-1 Portsmouth ( Peter Crouch)
Portsmouth 3-0 Hereenveen- UEFA Cup ( Crouch*2, Hreidarsson)

Pompey were hit for a six when they played City earlier this season. I think Portsmouth have it in them to draw or win this game. Some City players look nervous because Hughes will bring in new players, and that could lead to them playing below their potential. A possible 2-1 to Pompey, with Crouch and Younes Kaboul scoring. Caicedo to score for City.
