NFL: Previewing Sunday’s Wild Card Games

Yesterday we took a look at Saturday’s Wild Card games. Now I’m going to give my thoughts for the games on Sunday.
Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins are certainly the most surprising team in the NFL. They’ve gone from 1-15 to the playoffs. They won 10 more games this year than they did last year.
The Ravens have been a good team for a long time.
While the Dolphins rely on a team effort to win games, the Ravens usually rely on their defense. However, for the first time, the Ravens now have what looks to be a great quarterback. Joe Flacco is starting to emerge as a great signal caller.
So, which defense will have more success against which offense?
I really see the Ravens pulling out a close one here. Something along the lines of 20-17 or something similar.
My Pick: The Ravens
Philadelphia Eagles at Minnesota Vikings
The Eagles came out of no where to earn the last Wild Card spot. They crushed the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday. So you know they have a lot of confidence heading into this game.
The Vikings have Adrian Petersen but that’s about it.
The Eagles are going to blitz Vikings quarterback Tavaris Jackson early and often. The Eagles will also make sure they stop the run and force the Vikings into 2nd and 3rd and long situations. That’s a virtual kiss of death.
Meanwhile, the Eagles should be able to move the ball against the Vikings. McNabb is playing as well as he’s ever played in his great career. Brian Westbrook is somewhat healthy. This means the Vikings defense may have some real trouble matching up against the Eagles offense.
This game probably won’t be close. I think the Eagles will dominate in every phase of the game. This will add up to an easy win for Philly. We’re talking like 20 or more points. Something like 34-14 might be right.
My Pick: The Eagles
