CSKA Moscow vs Arsenal preview

Arsene Wenger will look to record his first win as Arsenal manager in Russia as his side travel to Moscow to face CSKA. Under Wenger, Arsenal have played two competitive games in Russia- a 4-1 loss to Spartak in 2000 and a 0-0 draw against Lokomotiv.
Arsenal are a on a good run, both domestically and in Europe, a 3-0 win against Watford to commemorate Wenger’s 10th year in charge of the club ,being their last game . The Gunners will be without midfielders Julio Baptista and Freddie Ljungberg for this trip. Brazil U-19 captain Denilson has been named in the 18 member squad for the game. Emmanuel Eboue has not recovered from the injury he suffered on international duty, while Philippe Senderos, Lauren and Abou Diaby are unavailable too. Gael Clichy is expected to play.Thierry Henry will as usual provide the fire power upfront with Adebayor, while Fabregas and Gilberto will marshall the midfield. Arsenal have won both their European games so far, against Hamburg and Porto.
CSKA are the current Russian champions and were UEFA cup winners in 2005. They have some excellent players like Dudu, Croatian Ivica Olid and Rolan Gusev in their squad. Wagner Love and Daniel Carvalho will return to the squad after sitting out due to domestic suspensions. The Russians have never won against an English squad so far though. The below freezing climes of Moscow will be something CSKA will hope to use to their advantage against Arsene Wenger’s men. Igor Akinfeev will have to stay alert in goal against Thierry Henry.
Tough game to predict, but I think Arsenal will nick it in Moscow. A 1-0 or a 2-1 would be a possiblity. I don’t see Arsenal losing this, unless they get unsettled by the weather in Moscow.
