Arsenal meet Liverpool in a mouth watering clash this weekend at the Emirates Stadium which the Gunners need to win in order to keep their title hopes alive. Arsene Wenger’s young side have been hugely inconsistent this season, beating both Chelsea and Manchester United, but losing to the likes of Hull, Fulham and Stoke City.

Centre back Kolo Toure is out, as are midfielders Tomas Rosicky and Theo Walcott. Striker Eduardo has not yet recovered from his long term injury, but Wenger can now call upon the services of Samir Nasri on the left. Nasri has gelled well with Gael Clichy on the left this season. We’ll probably see Fabregas in the centre, Denilson the right, and Adebayor and Van Persie upfront.

Arsenal form- last five games ( most recent first- Arsenal scorers indicated in brackets)

Middlesbrough 1-1 Arsenal ( Emmanuel Adebayor)
FC Porto 2-0 Arsenal
Arsenal 1-0 Wigan Athletic ( Emmanuel Adebayor)
Burnley 2-0 Arsenal- Carling Cup
Chelsea 1-2 Arsenal ( Robin Van Persie*2)

Liverpool have lost only one game away from Anfield this season, and that was against Tottenham Hotspur. However Rafa Benitez’s side have failed to pick up crucial points at home in recent fixtures, drawing against the likes of Hull and West Ham. They’ve stayed on top because Chelsea have not been able to take advantage. Striker Fernando Torres is ruled out, and Benitez will have to decide whether to start with the hardworking Dirk Kuyt or flamboyant Robbie Keane upfront. Steven Gerrard has been extremely important to this side, as the recent results will tell you.

Liverpool 2-2 Hull City ( Steven Gerrard*2)
PSV 1-3 Liverpool ( Ryan Babel, Albert Riera, David N’Gog)
Blackburn 1-3 Liverpool ( Xabi Alonso, Yossi Benayoun, Steven Gerrard)
Liverpool 0-0 West Ham
Liverpool 1-0 Marseille ( Steven Gerrard)

At 10Bet, Gerrard is at 8.700 to score first in this clash. He is also quoted at an extremely favourable 3.400 to score any time in this game.

Since February 2000, Liverpool have failed to beat Arsenal away from home. I think Arsenal will complete their treble over the Big Four in the first leg of the season. This is also a revenge clash for the Gunners, who lost to Liverpool in the quarterfinals of the Champions League last season.

Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool ( Adebayor, Fabregas, Gerrard)
