After beating Australia’s Adelaide United, Gamba Osaka will face European champions Manchester United in Yokohama on Thursday, with the winner progressing to the final of the FIFA Club World Cup. This is a big game for Gamba, and a win for them in Japan against United will do their confidence a world of good.

Lucas and Endo are likely to be the main threats for Manchester United.
Gamba look a bit inconsistent given their recent form, but they will be hoping to capitalise on any jet lag that United’s players may suffer from. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are probably miles ahead on talent in comparison to Gamba, but anything can happen in football. They flew for 10 and a half hours after the frustrating draw against Tottenham in the Premiership to reach Japan. Dimitar Berbatov has contracted a virus, and will be unavailable for Manchester United.

There is a nine hour time difference between England and Japan. On paper United should win this, and I think they’ll do it 3-1, with goals from Rooney, Park, Ronaldo and Endo scoring for Gamba. United, as you might remember, won this competition ( The Intercontinental Cup, as it was called then) in 1999.
