NFL: Predicting the Playoff Teams

As the NFL season grows longer and longer and the time before the playoffs gets shorter and shorter, the playoff picture begins to become a little clearer. However, there is still a lot to be decided.
So, now is yet another good time to take a shot at who will be in the playoffs and who won’t. I’ll even take a shot at predicting how the playoffs will unfold.
From the NFC, the New York Giants have already clinched the NFC East and the Arizona Cardinals have already clinched the NFC West. The Carolina Panthers lead in the NFC South and the Minnesota Vikings lead the NFC North. But I don’t think either of those teams will win their division.
The media is jumping on the Panthers and some are calling the Panthers the best team in the playoffs. That’s a good reason to count them out. And their remaining schedule is an even better reason.
Here are my predictions for the NFC:
1. NY Giants
2. Tampa Bay Bucs
3. Arizona Cardinals
4. New Orleans Saints
5. Carolina Panthers
6. Dallas Cowboys
I’ll go with the Cowboys over the Cardinals and the Saints over the Panthers in the playoffs. Then I’ll take the Giants over the Cowboys and the Bucs over the Saints. Finally, I like the Giants over the Bucs. (Why do I feel so uncomfortable picking the Giants?)
Over in the AFC, the Titans have clinched the AFC South. The Steelers will clinch the AFC North soon enough. And I like the Dolphins (yes the Dolphins) to win the AFC East and the Broncos to win the AFC West.
Here’s how I see it in the AFC:
1. Tennessee Titans
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
3. Denver Broncos
4. Miami Dolphins
5. Indianapolis Colts
6. Baltimore Ravens
I like the Ravens over the Broncos and the Colts over the Dolphins in the Wild Card round. Then I like the Titans over the Ravens and the Colts over the Steelers. In the Championship Game I’ll take the Titans over the Colts.
That leaves the Giants against the Titans.
I like the Titans. At least, right now I do… I think.

I do agree with you on Tennessee taking care of business in the AFC but with all the distraction the giants are having its a toss up on who’s going to take it in the NFC. I have seen to many number #1 seeds go down in my lifetime. great article
