Game : Wigan Athletic ( 17- 13 points) vs Everton ( 7- 19 points)

Competition : English Premier League

Venue : JJB Stadium, Wigan.

Date : Monday, 24 November, 2008

Time : 20.00 GMT

Everton will look to record their third successive away Premiership win when they travel to the JJB to face Steve Bruce’s Wigan Athletic on Monday night.

Everton drew with Middlesbrough at home last weekend, with Yakubu cancelling out O’Neil’s 8th minute strike. The Toffees are undefeated in their last five games, and will look to add Wigan to Bolton and West Ham in their recent away scalps list. While Nuno Valente and Lars Jacobsen are definitely out, late fitness tests will be conducted on midfielders Marouane Fellaini and Steven Pienaar. Both missed their respective countries’ midweek international fixtures. Fellaini is rated as the one having higher chances of playing.

Wigan drew 2-2 against Newcastle last week, with former Magpies defender Titus Bramble getting a late equaliser for the Latics. Wigan currently sit ahead of Blackburn on goal difference, and should they lose to Everton, they could well find themselves in the drop zone at the end of Monday night. There are big injury worries for Wigan- Amr Zaki, Mario Melchiot, Emile Heskey and Jason Koumas. All four are key creative players, and the Latics will be weakened should they not play. Should the above four not be fit, the onus will be on Wilson Palacios and Luis Valencia to step up to the task. Emmerson Boyce is suspended for this game after his appeal against the Newcastle red card was turned down.

I see Everton winning this one, say 2-1. Although the Toffees are still looking to get their act together, they should be good enough to repeat last season’s 2-1 win at the JJB which saw Joleon Lescott and Andrew Johnson score. Saha, Fellaini and Valencia to score.
