NFL: Picking the Playoffs

With the season getting deeper into the second half of the schedule, I took a look at who I thought would make the playoffs yesterday. Now, I’m going to take a shot at picking the playoff winners and the Superbowl winner.

Here’s a quick reminder of the teams I took to make the playoffs:

From the AFC:

1. Tennessee Titans (AFC South winner)
2. Pittsburgh Steelers (AFC North winner)
3. New England Patriots (AFC East winner)
4. San Diego Chargers (AFC West winner)
5. Indianapolis Colts (Wildcard)
6. New York Jets (Wildcard)

From the NFC:

1. New York Giants (NFC East winner)
2. Carolina Panthers (NFC South winner)
3. Arizona Cardinals (NFC West winner)
4. Chicago Bears (NFC North winner)
5. Dallas Cowboys (Wildcard)
6. Philadelphia Eagles (Wildcard)

So, in the AFC, the Titans and the Steelers would get the bye and in the NFC the Giants and the Panthers would get the bye.

The Pats would beat the Jets at home. The Colts would beat an 8-8 Chargers team. That would leave the Colts needing to play the Titans and the Steelers would host the Pats.

The Steelers would crush the Pats and the Titans would take care of the Colts. Then in the Championship Game, I’m going to go with the Steelers, as long as they are healthy.

In the NFC, the Cowboys would win in Chicago, and the Eagles would win in Arizona. That would leave the Eagles playing the Giants and the Cowboys playing the Panthers.

I think the Giants would beat the Eagles again and the Cowboys could go into Carolina and win. Then in the NFC Championship Game the Cowboys would get sweet revenge on the Giants and advance to the Superbowl.

Then I like the Cowboys over the Steelers in the Superbowl. But I have a feeling we’d be looking at overtime. How’s that for a prediction? Want a score? 34-28 Dallas on a Felix Jones touchdown in OT.

How’s that?

Of course, I’m probably completely wrong but there is it. My predictions a little more than half way through the season.
