MLB: Let’s Try this Again

Baseball will give Game 5 another chance on Wednesday night… hopefully. Of course that depends on the weather, which is pretty bad right now.
In fact, some reports are that it could be snowing during the game and just about everyone agrees that the temperature will be in the 30s.
Now that’s baseball weather!
Actually, that’s very crazy. The teams play all season in mostly nice and warm weather and now they have to play a meaningful game in winter weather? Well, excuse me. I mean, they have to play a partial game in bad weather.
Because they played five and half innings of Game Five on Monday night. Then they called the game and then they cancelled the game on Tuesday night. They’ll give it a go tonight but who knows if that will work?
Bud Selig is in a tough spot here though. There really isn’t a good solution here. The weather in Philly in late October is nasty more often than not. Just like the weather in Detroit, New York, Boston, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and most other Major League Baseball cities.
The only real solution is to shorten the end of the season. Try to get the World Series done by the third week of October. Do what it takes to make that happen. Because as long as the season goes this far into Fall, there will be a problem of weather more often than not.
So what do we do about Game Five? There is nothing we can do about it now. We just gave to get the rest of the game in and then get to Tampa, if there’s a need to go to Tampa. And then we have to live with the result of the game.
Sure, it hurts Major League Baseball. How can it not? It’s a debacle. But the game goes on… as long as the weather let’s it.
