NFL: Titans Roll

We might as well hand the AFC South to the Tennessee Titans. After beating the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football, they have a huge lead in the division and it will be plenty to vault them to an AFC South crown.
But are the Titans good enough to win it all? Of course they are. They have an awesome defense, a great running game, and a steady QB. That is a recipe to win, especially this year when there really isn’t a dominating team in the NFL.
But them winning isn’t a guarantee. They are a couple injuries away from being average. But of course, their toughness will continue to win games for them. And that’s a direct product of their Head Coach, Jeff Fisher.
So who can challenge the Titans in the AFC? Certainly the Steelers can and that’s about it. But maybe the Pats or the Bills could give them a run too.
If we extend that list to the NFC then I think there are a bunch of teams that can challenge. Topping the list is the Giants, of course. Then I also think the Panthers, Redskins, Eagles, Cowboys (when healthy), and even the Bucs.
The fact that the Titans play each and every game so close will wind-up hurting them sooner or later. They won’t be able to gain any real separation between themselves and another good team. So a mistake here or a bug play there could lead to a lose or three.
Of course, that answers the question that has begun to be asked: Can the Titans go undefeated?
No. It’s just that simple. Even if they run the table in the regular season (which they won’t) they won’t get through the playoffs and the Superbowl unbeaten.
But which game will they lose? Well, look no further than the next two weeks: at home against the Packers and then at the Bears. They will lose one of these games.
