New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles

Week 2 of the NFL season will feature a match of 2 quality teams. In my opinion this will be the best game of the week. It is a very important game for both teams. The Giants played well week 1, but lost to the Colts 26-21. The Eagles defeated the Houston Texans 24-10. Donavan McNabb had a great game, he is looking to be back in form after a bad 2005 season. He threw for over 300 yards and 3 TD’s. El Manning also played well, perhaps even outplaying his brother Peyton Manning.

Passing Offense

Both teams have excellent quarterback’s, I’ll call them even. So when deciding who has a better passing offense, I have to look at the Wide Receivers and Tight Ends. The addition of Daunte Stallworth improves Eagles passing offense, but the New York Giants have better receivers with Plaxico Burress who made an amazing TD catch last week and tight end Jeremy Shockey who also caught a TD last week.
Advantage For New York Giants

Running Offense

All I got to say is Tiki Barber; perhaps the most underrated running back in the NFL. Week one he ran for 110 yards against a good Indianapolis defense. No offense to Brian Westbrook, but Tiki Barber is a better running back, although Westbrook is a better receiving running back.
Advantage For New York Giants

Defense

Week one the Eagles played great defense, allowing 10 points to an average offense, the Houston Texans. The Giants played OK defense, allowing 26 points to an excellent offense, the Indianapolis Colts. The Eagles a lot of great individual players including Jeremiah Trotter, Brian Dawkins, and Jevon Kearse. The Giants on the other hand have no stand out players; rather they play as a team. I also like the system Jim Johnson has put in place for the Eagles.
Advantage For Philadelphia Eagles

Conclusion

Both are good teams, not necessarily great teams. Both teams are pretty balanced on offense and defense, both team have the capability of putting up high scores, so I feel this may be a shootout. Both will make a run for the playoffs this year in the NFC, I could see the game going either way, but I feel the New York Giants are a little better so I have to give them the nod.
