How bad have things become in Dallas? Well, worse then any football analyst ever thought they would. And not nearly as bad as they might get.

The Cowboys won the first three games of the season and were just about everyone’s pick to with the Superbowl. Then they stumbled against the Redskins and explained it away by saying it was almost a relief to lose.

Then they looked horrible against the Cincinnati Bengals but won.

Then the bottom fell out.

The Cowboys lost to the Arizona Cardinals in overtime by getting a punt blocked and recovered in the end zone. They came away from that game with their rookie star Felix Jones hurt and they also lost their starting QB, Tony Romo.

Then yesterday they went into St Louis and got destroyed by a previously 1-5 Rams team.

For a team that was the favorite to win the Superbowl just 4 weeks ago, this is a fall of historic proportions.

So what is wrong with Dallas? Well, it would be easier to look at what’s right at this moment, since that’s a very short list.

So, what is right the Cowboys is: Barber, Ware, and that’s about it.

What’s wrong? Well, just for starters the defense, the offensive line, the special teams, and the coaching. Failing at any one of those is a problem. Failing at all of them is the makings of a season winning only a couple games.

But this Dallas team can’t go winless the rest of the year… can they?

Well, probably not. One would think that Wade Phillips (the Cowboys “Head Coach”) has been around the block a few times and will be able to pull some strings to get things back on the right track. Already he’s assigned more coaches to Special Teams and today came word that Phillips will relieve Defensive Coordinator, Brian Stewart, from his play calling during the game.

This is certainly a step in the right direction. But if it will be a big enough step, only time will tell.
