MLB: Here Comes Game 7

Uttt ohhhh.
That nervous feeling you felt when you woke up this morning? That’s just the vibe you’re getting from all the Rays fans down in Florida. Because they are very nervous. And they have every reason to be.
After holding a 3 games to 1 lead and a 7-0 lead in Game Five, the Rays have suddenly shifted back to looking like the Rays of years past. They have now loast two games in a row and they now will be forced to play a Game Seven against the Red Sox on Sunday night.
We are not in the territory where very few teams have ever gone – a Game Seven in the League Championship. In fact, it’s only happened 14 times in both leagues. But you know what?> Boston has been there a bunch… and recently too.
A few years ago they lost to the Yankees in extra innings when Aaron Boone homered. Then the next year they beat the Yankees in the Game Seven. Then last year the Red Sox demolished the Cleveland Indians in a Game Seven.
Now, the Rays will play in their first ever Game Seven, just as they’re playing in their first ever playoffs. But how will the Rays respond?
They’ve bounced back from adversity so many times this year. They’ve taken all the challenges and slapped them aside. And whenever people have begin to count them out, well that’s been the time they’ve really started to play their best ball.
But this is different, isn’t it? Now the Rays really have their backs again the wall. One loss and their magical season is over. But one win and it continues on to the World Series. Talk about an all or nothing situation.
On the mound for the Red Sox will be John Lester (16-6). For the Rays it will be John Garza (11-9). So the Red Sox even have the edge with pitching.
But all of it will have to be decided on the field. And it will be decided on Sunday night.
