MLB: Getting Ready for Game Six

Friday was a quiet day on the field in the world of baseball. But while there weren’t any games being played, there was plenty of noise in the papers, on the radio, and on the television. Everybody was discussing which team now held the advantage in the Rays vs Red Sox series and which team would come out of the American League and face the Philadelphia Phillies.

One thing that is for sure, the Boston Red Sox now have the momentum. How could they not after coming back from a 7-0 deficit to win 8-7 on Thursday night?

The Red Sox were absolutely left for dead, even by most of their fans (who left Fenway early). But they battled back and pushed the Rays’ celebration back for at least a couple more days. But, can they keep it going in Game Six?

That is the big question.

Most people agree that the Rays have more talent. The Rays have stronger pitching and better hitting. They Rays are the better team. But will that mean that the Rays win Game Six or even Game Seven?

I think it will, but I don’t want to count out the Red Sox. It seems that they play their best ball with the backs against the wall. And their backs are firmly against the wall right now.

Of course the Red Sox have to win Game Six just to force a Game Seven. But even if the Red Sox do win Game Six, that doesn’t mean they will win Game Seven and advance to the World Series. The Rays have shown time and time again that they play really well with their backs against the wall too. However, I wouldn’t like the Rays chances of winning a Game Seven. Especially after losing two straight games.

So the Rays better get the job done tonight. They better clinch in Game Six, otherwise, the Red Sox may just pull off another improbably comeback in the ALCS.
