NFL: Cowboys in Trouble?

How things change. And how things become very different in the NFL in absolutely no time at all.
Just a few weeks ago the Dallas Cowboys were considered the best team in the NFL by pretty much everyone. Now, they wouldn’t even be in the Top 10 on most people’s lists.
After losing to the Washington Redskins, Dallas has some trouble in a win over the Bengals last week, and then yesterday they lost to the Arizona Cardinals in overtime. But they lost a lot more than the game.
They also lost their 4th WR, Sam Hurd for the season. They lost their punter for probably the entire season. They also lost their rookie RB, Felix Jones, for 2-3 weeks.
But the worst injury was to their ProBowl quarterback Tony Romo. He broke his pinkie finger and will be out at least 4 weeks.
Add that injury to injuires to their starting corner, Terrance Newman, their starting safety, Roy Williams, and their back-up safety, Pat Watkins. And the Cowboys have also been playing without their starting guard, Kyle Kosier.
Wow. Look at all those injuries.
Yet the media only talks about Romo and about other teams having injuries.
But what the media says doesn’t matter. The Cowboys just have to worry about themselves. And they have plenty to worry about too.
But does that mean the Cowboys are in trouble?
Well, certainly they are. But it doesn’t mean they’re done. In fact, maybe this is just what the Cowboys need. They need for each guy to step-up and do his job. Instead of looking for the stars to make the plays. Each player, each and every down, has to do his job to the best of his ability.
Dallas will play three games in the next four weeks (while Romo is out). Whether or not they can win one or two of those games will go a long way in determining whether the Cowboys will be in trouble all season long.
