MLB: Looking at LA and Philly

After a couple days off, baseball will again take center stage in the world of sports.
Tonight the NLCS will kickoff in Philadelphial. The Los Angeles Dodgers will take on the Philadelphia Phillies. And it will be Cole Hammels for the Phillies going against Derek Lowe for the Dodgers.
Both of these teams have strong pitching backed up by strong bullpens. But the Dodgers carry the slight edge in starting pitching and they also carry the edge in hitting. However, tonight the nod has to go to Philly. But the Phillies can win tonight and this series will still be fine for the Dodgers. However, LA will certainly want to take one of the first two in Philadelphia. That way they can head across the country with homefield advantage in their back pocket.
Manny Ramirez, one of the best hitters ever and Dodgers left fielder, has been a popular topic on sports radio the past couple days. He is playing for a new contract and he’s hitting nearly .400 since going from Boston to LA.
The pooular question is: Would you want Manny on your team for the next four years?
Well, that’s a great question to debate on radio. (By the way, I think the Cubbies are the team most in need of Manny just to loosen up that club house when the pressure is applied.) But it’s a question that doesn’t need to be considered by the Dodgers right now. They have Manny and he will be bashing for them. And he will make the difference in this series.
The Dodgers are the hot team and Philly has to win tonight to cool them off a little bit. But I do think the Dodgers split in Philly and take two of three in LA. And then I do think the Dodgers close the Phillies out in Game Six.
And I do think Manny gets series MVP.
