MLB: NL All Set, AL Not Yet

Well, the NLCS is all set. It will be the Los Angeles Dodgers going up against the Philadelphia Phillies. But things aren’t yet set in the American League. That’s thanks to the Angels beating the Red Sox to extend that series and the White Sox beating the Rays to extend that series.
The series between the Anaheim Angels and the Boston Red Sox looked like it was over. The Red Sox went into Anaheim and took the first two games in the series. Going back to Boston with a 2-0 lead, the Red Sox had their ace ready to take the mound and wrap-up the series in 3 quick games. But the Angles got to Beckett for 4 runs in 5 innings, and then they went on to win the game in 12 innings – 5-4.
The Red Sox better be careful. They’ve now allowed the dangers Angels to get off the mat. They better not let them win on Monday to send this game back to Anaheim. I don’t think it will happen. The Red Sox aren’t a team to let other teams crawl back on them. But I also didn’t think this series would see a Game Four.
Over in the other AL series, the White Sox got a much needed win over the Rays, 5-3. But to me, this series still firmly belongs to the Rays. Even if Chicago wins again on Monday, the Rays will still go back home as the favorite. I just don’t see the Rays getting nervous and losing their cool. The Rays have been in this position a lot this season – playing games when it seems like they are on the verge of choking – and they’ve proven they can win time and time again.
So we will see how everything plays out on Monday. Will the ALCS be set or will we see one or two game fives? Stay tuned…
