England Premiership 26th March 2006

Anyone forsee an easy win for Manchester United when they host Birmingham? -1.75 might seem heavy for the clear favorite Man Utd but judging from Birmingham’s current club state it’s probably justified. After suffering a heavy 7-0 defeat at the hand of Liverpool in the FA Cup a few days ago coach Steve Bruce’s head is already on the platter, maintaining their Premiership status would need a miracle as they still need to confront Man Utd and Chelsea in their last 9 games.

Missing from Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford are Heskey, Sutton, Upson, Clapham, and Martin Taylor, while Izzet, Jarosik and Julian Gray are major doubts. Man Utd is expected to field an unchanged side that won against WBA 2-1 last Saturday, which means Nistelrooy will probably be on the bench again while red hot Saha is given the preferance to partner with Rooney upfront. In their previous eight head to head meetings, Manchester United have managed to win six and drawn two. How Birmingham will react to last Tuesday 7-0 loss is anyone’s guess, will they roll over and let the Red Devils steam roll them or will they fight for their Premiership survival? I can’t see pass a Man Utd victory but against a side that’s fighting for their lives and trying to salvage their dignity it’s going to be a tough game for the Red Devils. Extreme caution is needed, a wee small punt on Manchester United to over come -1.75 handicap for tomorrow’s encounter.
