MLB: Rays Do it Again + Races Shaking Out

Well, I finally knew better than to count out the Tampa Bay Rays, and was I ever right.
After losing the first game of the three games series, and allow the Red Sox to tie them in the American League East, it looked like the Rays would fade into the Wild Card spot in the AL. But not so fast.
The Rays came back to win the next two games and retake a two game lead in the AL East. And it wasn’t like the Red Sox weren’t trying to win. Both games were hotly contested but the Rays just got the hits they needed when they needed them.
So now the Rays go on to play the Minnesota Twins and the Red Sox move on to take on the Blue Jays in Toronto. But with only 12 games left to play for the Rays and just 10 games for the Red Sox, I’m ready to give the AL East to the Rays.
I’m also prepared to give the AL Central to the White Sox. Since the trade for Ken Griffey Jr. I thought the Twins would overtake the White Sox but now I don’t think so. I think Chicago wins it.
Then the Angels are going from the West and the Red Sox will take the Wild Card. So the 4 teams from the AL will be the Rays, Red Sox, White Sox, and Angels.
In the National League things aren’t quite so clear. The Cubs will win the Central and the Dodgers wil win the West, but the East and the Wild Card are still up for grabs.
It looks like the Phillies are the team to beat in the NL East, and they’ll probably win the division again. But the Wild Card will be a crazy battle between the Mets, the Brewers, and the Astros.
Despite how messy the Mets bullpen is, I think they will squeek out the Wild Card.
So that would put the Phillies, the Mets, the Cubs, and the Dodgers in the playoffs fromt he National League.
Though these predictions could change by the end of the weekend.
