MLB: Match-Ups to Watch

Right now there are some important match-ups taking place. In fact, there are two important series in the American League and two important series in the National League.

No, these series don’t feature the top two teams in any division. However, they are just as important in their own way. The winners of each of the 4 series have a very good chance at helping to provide which teams will still be standing when the playoffs begin.

The first important series is between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays. The Yankees haven’t played very good baseball all season. They’re pretty much out of the race for the AL East but they still have an outside shot at the Wild Card. However, the Blue Jays are breathing down their necks. Toronto is only 2 games behind the Yanks. And these two teams are battling it out in Toronto over the next few days.

The other big match-up is between the Anaheim Angels and the Tampa Bay Rays. These are probably the two best teams in the AL and all of baseball. This could very well be a preview of the ALCS. And at this moment it’s important for the Rays to win in order to keep Boston as arm’s length. It’s also important for the Rays to keep playing with confidence now and in the playoffs.

Over in the National League, both match-ups are within the National League West. The Arizone Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers are tied atop that division. But they aren’t playing each other. No, they’re playing against the bottom of their division – the Dodgers are going up against the Colorado Rockies while the D-Backs are playing the Padres. But both of these games are important because they will help decide who come out on top of the NL West.

So, there may not be any big-time match-ups going on right now when the schedule if glanced at. But there are four very important series playing out. And these series will affect the overall playoffs picture.
