MLB:It’s Great to be Sox

Posted on | May 22, 2008 | No Comments

It’s great to be playing for team that has “Sox” in the name right now.

Both the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox are flying high and rattling off wins in bunches.

For the Sox of the Red variety, they’e now won six straight games. Boston beat the Kansas City Royals six to three on Wednesday night. With the Tampa Bay Rays losing, the Red Sox are now two games ahead in the American League East. You have to wonder if the Red Sox will ever fall off the top perch in the AL East. In fact, the Red Sox currently own the best record in the Majors and it’s likely they may keep it for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, the Sox of the White variety of also hot.. Yes, the Chicago White Sox have now won seven straight games and they’ve opened up a two and a half game lead in the AL Central. The White Sox beat the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday by a score of 7-2. With every other team in the AL Central losing – except the basement dwelling Tigers – the White Sox were able to build their lead by another game.

Now, before we move on and get ready for today’s action, things are beginning to tighten up in the NL West again. The D-Backs lost to the Florida Marlins and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Reds. That makes back-to-back loses for the D-Backs and three straight wins for the Dodgers and it brings the Dodgers to within three games. Things are getting interesting once again.
