MLB: Blowing-Up the Tigers

Okay, I’ll say off the top that I’m not the Tigers’ manager Jim Leyland and I admit that he has more baseball knowledge in his little finger - actually the nail on his little finger - then I will ever have. I also should say that I shouldn’t but I hate to see the Red Sox or the Yankees winning a lot of games. I’m sick of their domination. So when the Tigers went to the Series two years ago I was happy. And when the Tigers spent a lot of money in hte off-season I was still very happy. But now that the Togers are playing horrible baseball, I am not happy.

So what should happen with the Tigers? Well, it’s been too early to panic but it’s getting about that time now. Even the Tigers admitted something has to happen when they decided to shake things up a little a couple nights ago. They designated Jacque Jones for assignment and they also flipped around the line-up a little. But more has to happen.

It’s time to give Gary Sheffield the axe. He has been horrible this year and he was horrible the last couple of months of last year. Weshed-up? I think so. So let him go.

Then move Miguel Cabrera to left field and Carlos Guillen back to first base. Put Brandon Inge in at third base. This way the defense on the infield will be solid and Inge will get the benefit of playing everyday, which should help him with his hitting. Then the batting order should be: Granderson, Polanco, Guillen, Ordonez, Cabrera, Thames, Renteria, Rodriguez, and Inge.

This might not work, but at least it would send a message that guys need to start playing or they’ll be off the team and it’ll also get rid of the dead bat in the line-up - Gary Sheffield.
