La Liga: Racing de Santander vs. Sevilla

Sports Betting at the Sportsbook

This match will likely resemble a pitched battle than a game of football, as much depends on the outcome for both sides.
Racing are looking to end their historic season in a high a position as possible. Sitting in fifth place, they have a six point cushion over seventh placed Mallorca and are almost assured a place in next season’s UEFA cup for the first time in their existence. This though doesn’t seem to be enough for Racing, and want to beat Atlético Madrid out of their fourth spot and qualify for the Champions league. Atlético are just two points above Racing and are highly irregular at the moment. They scored an immensely important victory over Recreativo de Huelva at the weekend to maintain fourth spot, but on Wednesday they have to travel to Espanyol where Atlético have picked up just one point since 2001.
Sevilla will also be eyeing Atlético’s fourth spot and a win over Racing de Santander is vital for repeating their Champions league success, while president Del Nido is preparing the next season without coach Manolo Jimenez. The maximum responsible of Sevilla is also gearing up to fight off bids from a host of top European clubs for the services of some of his best players. Dani Alves and Poulsen already seem to have deals sealed, and Fenerbahce want to take Kanoute to Turkey. Sevilla go into this game on the back of a comfortable two nil win over Valladolid at the weekend, which was their first win in three matches. Racing also won at the weekend, coming back from two goals to nil against Murcia to win it three – two.
This match is going to be extremely difficult to predict, and I can see both teams canceling each other out. A draw wouldn’t be too bad a result for either side, but if Atlético Madrid beat Espanyol Sevilla will be five points from their Champions league objective with just two games to play.
Prediction: draw (1-1)
