Thing in the National league West are suddenly very interesting, but not as interesting as things are getting in the American league Central.

After it looked like the Arizona Diamondbacks would run away with the division by as early as June, suddenly things don’t look so certain. And it’s not because the Diamondbacks have begun playing bad baseball either. Perhaps they aren’t red-hot anymore but the D-Backs are still doing fine. However, it’s the Los Angeles Dodgers who are now red-hot.

The Dodgers won their 7th straight game on Friday night against the Colorado Rockies. And that win actually pulled the Dodgers back to within 4 games of the Diamondbacks. It will now be interesting to see if the Dodgers can keep-up the great play and to see how the Diamondbacks react.

Meanwhile in the American league Central, every single team is within 2 games of the division lead. The Kansas City Royals are currently in last place but only 2 games back. Then the Detroit Tigers are a game and a half back, as are the Cleveland Indians, the Minnesota Twins are just a half game back, and the Chicago White Sox are currently clinging to the division lead.

However, it’s clear that this could be a wild division. The White Sox have shown flashes of being very good, Cleveland is good, the Tigers should be good, and the Twins are playing really well lately. Then the Royals have also shown flashes of being very good in spots.

So this will be a fun division to watch as the season unfolds. One would think that the Indians or the Tigers will win the division in the end but there certainly isn’t a clear favorite at this point.
