MLB: Yankees Win a Wild One

The more things change the more they stay the same.

We’re just a couple weeks into the Major League Baseball season but the Yankees and the Red Sox have both found their way to the top of the American League East. Toronto’s hot start has now cooled off to a record of 8-7. So had Baltimore. And the Rays have taken up the spot where they’ll most likely finish in the division – last place.

So at the top of the division the Yankees and the Red Sox have taken up their places at the top of the division. The Yankees won a wild game on Wednesday night. The loss for Boston stopped their mini winning streak and the win for New York moved their streak of wins to the games.

The Red Sox took a very brief lead in this game when they scored six runs in the top of the fifth inning. Those six runs moved the Sox ahead 9-7. But the Yankees came back in the bottom half of the inning with four runs to take the lead back for good. The Yanks would add four more runs in the bottom of the 8th inning for a 15-9.

Over in the National League the Arizona Diamondbacks kept playing great baseball and they extended the biggest lead in the Majors to three games when they beat the San Francisco Giants 4-1 on Tuesday. So they D-Backs continue to look like the team to beat in the National League.
