The Kansas Jayhawks

Posted on | April 3, 2008 | No Comments

Yesterday we took a look at the University of North Carolina Tar Heels. They will be playing the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday to see which team gets the honor of going onto the National Championship game. So today we’ll take a closer look at the Jayhawks.

The Kansas Jayhawks are led by Brandon Rush. Rush is once of those guys who seems like he’s been in college basktetball forever. In fact, I’d swear Rush was a freshmen at about the time that Danny Manning was getting set to leave Kansas. But seriously, Rush has been around for a long time and all the experience has to be a comfort to the Jayhawks. The next two highest scorers on the team are Arthur and Chalmers. They are both less than a half a point behind Rush.

Overall this Kansas team is where it is today because it is a very athletic team that plays great defense and can get scoring from just about any place on the floor. This is also a deep team that can come at another team in waves.

Kansas has to be considered the weakest of the 4 teams that are left. While most of the games the other teams have been involved in have been pretty much blowouts, the Jayhawks have been winning games that were considerably closer.

In fact the Jayhawks barely got by Davidson on Sunday. Davidson had the ball and took a shot to win the game at the buzzer but the shot didn’t fall and kansas won by 2.

So while the other #1 seeds were pretty much coasting along and blowing teams away, Kansas has worked to get to the Final Four. And the Jayhawks have arguably had the easiest path of all the teams too. So they might be in trouble at the Final Four where they’ll have to play two awesome teams in order to win the National Championship.

But the Kansas Jayhawks are at the Final Four and they are just two wins from the Championship just like all the other teams. So we will have to wait and see how they do against UNC and – if they make it that far – against the winner of Memphis and UCLA.
