Heat Win

I can’t believe I am saying this, but last night the Heat actually won. Last night’s game three of the NBA Finals was the first, in my opinion, somewhat exciting game of the series. I have heard other commentators describe this series as “ho-hum” and “poorly played”, so I know I’m not alone in my disappointment. However, game 3 changed all of that—mainly due to the fantastic finish. The game is self was decent, but the second half of the fourth quarter provided great excitement.

The Heat were all but written off, even by their fans in attendance, when they stepped it up and Dallas faltered. It looked like Dallas let up a little bit and that opened the door for Miami. The Heat played clutch basketball for the remaining four minutes of the game. Shaq somehow made two free throws in a row—how often does that happen? Dwyane Wade played the 4th with 5 fouls—what a move by Pat Riley. He ended up scoring 42 much needed points last night.

Perhaps the biggest basket of them all did not come from Wade or Shaq. It came from the glove, Gary Payton. His basket gave the Heat the lift they needed to get over the hump. How about the play of Jason Williams? He was feeling it and you could tell. The Heat definitely had a team effort last night. The big concern is that they are still down 2-1 in the series and the Mavericks simply look too tough for them. Last night’s win was big in more ways than one. Had they lost, they would have been down 0-3 in the series and no team in NBA Finals history has ever been down 0-3 and came back to win.
