About To Be Over

Posted on | June 13, 2006 | No Comments

Last night the Carolina Hurricanes took game 4 of the Stanley Cup finals 2-1 over the Edmonton Oilers. Last night’s win took the air out of the Oilers’ sails and pretty much guaranteed the 2006 Stanley Cup champion would be the Carolina Hurricanes, who are now up 3-1 in the series. The Edmonton Oilers, save game one, simply are not playing like they have been through the rest of the playoffs this season.

Last night Cam Ward came up big again for the Hurricanes by allowing one lone goal to cross the line. Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals will be tomorrow at 8:00 PM EST. It will be in Carolina and the Hurricanes should win. The Oilers have little left in the tank. They have done all they could and it just is not enough to overcome the Hurricanes. The Oilers, number 8 seed in the West, gave it a good run, but they are simply overmatched in this series.

Currently, the Hurricanes are a -200 favorite for tomorrow’s game. The Oilers are a +185 underdog. The under/over is 5.5 goals with the over being -125. These numbers will probably stay the same as there most likely won’t be enough betting action to swing the numbers either way. So here we are, back to game two prices. In game one, the Hurricanes were -170. For me, this has been a great Stanley Cup Finals as the Carolina Hurricanes have made me a good deal of money. While I would like to cheer on the Oilers, to make this a longer and better series, I don’t think they have it in them to go to Carolina and pull out a win.
