Considering the differing budgets of these two clubs, many people are amazed that it is QPR that are battling at the bottom whereas Norwich are just about keeping their heads above water. Of course, a lot can change in the final months and the visitors will know the importance of notching three points and keeping as much distance between them and the bottom three as possible.
Even though they might be situated at the bottom of the table, QPR certainly didn’t hold back when it came to the transfer window after being the big spenders by quite some margin. With that being said, Harry Redknapp did miss out on a couple of his publicised targets, even if he did manage to spend big and sign the likes of Loic Remy, Chris Samba and Jermaine Jenas. Many people believe that such investment could rescue the R’s – who looked completely out of the survival race just a couple of weeks ago. Now, they sit just four points adrift of safety and after putting together a four game unbeaten run that has come despite playing sides such as Manchester City and Tottenham, supporters are starting to see light at the end of the tunnel.
Norwich meanwhile have slipped in recent weeks, although the Canaries at least have a seven point cushion between them and the bottom three. Nevertheless, Chris Hughton will be desperate for improvement, with the Carrow Road outfit on a winless run that has now stretched to six top flight outings. After being thrashed 5-0 by Liverpool and being dumped out of the FA Cup by Luton, some would say they responded well with a 1-1 draw against Tottenham a few days ago. Whether or not that is sufficient to prompt an upturn in away form is another matter though, with Norwich without a win on the road in the top flight in their last three attempts.
As you would expect, Harry Redknapp is expected to waste no time in including his new recruits with the likes of Chris Samba and Jermaine Jenas both tipped to start. However, it’s not all positive for the R’s, with Jamie Mackie set to miss out as he struggles with tonsillitis. Norwich are also expected to hand a debut out, with Luciano Becchio tipped for a start following his switch from Leeds. However, Harry Kane is back at parent club Tottenham, while Kei Kamara’s international clearance has not yet been received.
In terms of a prediction, we just have to go with the QPR victory. The R’s have improved their squad tremendously over recent weeks and with opponents Norwich struggling a little, our tip will be a 2-0 victory for the Loftus Road outfit.
