NFL Football: Divisional Playoffs – My Sunday Picks and Saturday Reviews

We’re halfway home for the divisional round of the playoffs and so far no big surprises.

Let’s get right to my picks for Sunday and then review my Saturday picks.

San Diego Chargers at Indianapolis Colts

If there is a lock in the playoffs, that game is a lock. The Colts will win and I expect them to win big. Marvin Harrison is back and these are the defending Super Bowl Champions! That’s right. I don’ think there’s ever been a Super Bowl Champion that’s been so overlooked. But I guess the media is more concerned about following Romo on vacation in Mexico.

I think this one will be over midway through the 2nd quarter.

My Pick: Colts 44-10

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys

This is now the game I’m most interested in. The media is so in love with the Giants that this game has become not only the Giants against the Cowboys but also the media vs the Cowboys.

I see no logical reason why the Giants can be picked to win this game. Dallas is better at almost every position. Dallas has a better record. Dallas is well-rested and they’re healthier than they’ve been all year.

Sure, anything can happen – that’s why they play the game – but how can any so-called “expert” pick the G-Men?

My Pick: Cowboys 34-24

Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers

My Pick: Packers 27-16

The Packers – thanks to two Ryan Grant fumbles – dug themselves a 14-0 hole. Such a young team, they would have a hard time coming back. Right? Nope.

The Packers stormed back and took a commanding lead by halftime and then rolled to victory.

Now the Packers can sit back and watch the Giants and Cowboys to see who they’ll play next week.

The Result: Packers 42-20

Jacksonville Jaguars at New England Patriots

My Pick: Pats 28-17

This was a good game and it ended up being decided by 11 points.

The Jags had a good offensive plan and they might have won if David Garrard didn’t lose a fumble to New England and then throw a pick.

Once again we saw the New England’s offense is just awesome. They can score points and they are the best offense that’s ever played the game of football – in my opinion.

But we also saw New England’s defense looking very vulnerable once again. They couldn’t stop the Jags’ run or pass. If not for the 2 turnovers, the Jags probably would’ve only come up empty on one possession the whole game.

The Pats offense is so good, they cover-up their defense. But this defense certainly isn’t a Championship caliber defense.

They are now 17-0, so how can I argue with that?

The Result: Pats 31-20

This Week: 2-0
Overall: 5-1
