NFL Football: Playoff Preview

Posted on | January 8, 2008 | No Comments

As we head into the next round of the playoffs, there are 8 teams left and there are many exciting games coming up this weekend. Every single game offers intrigue of some type right from the beginning of the games on Saturday until the end of the games on Sunday night.

The four match-ups (in the order they’ll play) will be the Seattle Seahawks at the Green Bay Packers, the Jacksonville Jaguars at the New England Patriots, the San Diego Chargers at the Indianapolis Colts, and the New York Giants at the Dallas Cowboys.

The Green Bay Packers have to be considered the favorite in their game because they are at home and they have Brett Favre. Plus, the only game the Packers lost this year was at the Cowboys and twice to the Chicago Bears. The Packers are a very good team. However, don’t count the Seahawks out. They have more experience in the playoffs then the Packers do and their head coach (former Packers head coach), Mike Holmgren, knows Brett Favre as well as anyone.

The Jacksonville and New England game should be a battle. Many people think the Jaguars can beat the Pats, and I think they can, but I doubt they will. However, the bigger story may very well be that the Patriots get very beat-up by the Jaguars. The Pats will most likely win this game but the Jags will probably beat them up. And that might be enough to make the Pats vulnerable the next week.

The game in Indianapolis is San Diego’s chance to redeem their loss from last year. It will also set them up for even more revenge should they win because they’ll then probably take on the Patriots. However, I don’t Indianapolis losing this game. The Colts should have Marvin Harrison for the first time in a long time and they should be ready to roll.

Finally, the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys will meet for the third time this season. The Cowboys won the first two games this year, including the one played at Texas Stadium. That was way back in the first game of the season. The Giants haven’t lost a road game since that game and of course the Cowboys went on to win 12 more times and to take home the #1 seed in the NFC. This should be a great game.

So now we’re set-up to start getting into each game. And we will do just that as the week unfolds.
