NFL Football: Divisional Playoffs – My Saturday Results and Sunday Picks
Before I get into how I did yesterday (hint: I had both games right), I’m going to give my picks for today.
We have the New York Giants visiting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Tennessee Titans visiting the San Diego Chargers.
New York Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Most of the supposed “experts” think the Giants will win this game. That’s based on the fact that the Giants played so well against the Patriots last week. However, we’ve already learned that past playing really has nothing to do with how teams play in the playoffs. Plus, the Giants still lost last week. I know it was to New England but the Patriots have let a whole lot of teams hang around in including the Baltimore Ravens who went on to let Miami win their only game of the season.
So what does all this mean?
I think it’ll be a close one but I just don’t trust the Giants players to get it done. I think Jeff Garcia and the Bucs defense will have their way in this one.
My Pick: Buccaneers 27-16
Tennessee Titans at San Diego Chargers
This has a lot of potential to be a blowout. I just don’t think the Titans have enough. San Diego is hungry to erase that memory of losing their first game in the playoffs last year.
My Pick: Chargers 34-10
Washington Redskins at Seattle Seahawks
My Pick: Seahawks 23-10
The Seahawks dominated for 55 minutes. Then in the other 5 minutes the Skins scored 14 points and took a brief lead. Then the world fell apart for them and the Seahawks pulled away late.
The Redskins’ tragic season came to an end just as they were beginning to proclaim that they were Super Bowl contenders. Unfortunately, listening to some of their post-game comments, some players still refuse to admit they aren’t that good of a team.
The Result: Seahawks 35-14
Jacksonville Jaguars at Pittsburgh Steelers
My Pick: Jaguars 27-17
This was a battle. The Steelers played a lot better than I thought they would. David Garrard played a lot worse than I thought he would.
Still, the Jags pulled it out late. Now they’ll move on to play the Patriots (as long as the Chargers win today). That should be a battle. But if Garrard doesn’t play better next week, there is no way the Jags stick with the Pats.
The Result: Jaguars 31-29
